BlackBee are an innovative Irish investment firm based in Cork and Dublin. Having grown at a compelling rate in the past five years, and set for further growth and change, BlackBee needed to pause and evaluate their position.
It was very clear to us that BlackBee were different. Champions of alternative investments, BlackBee have an integral ethical core that drives everything they do. Through investing in great ideas and harnessing technology, BlackBee aim to make the world a better place. This progressive behaviour needed to be communicated with their audiences and reflected in each and every one of their touchpoints. So that’s exactly what we did.
BlackBee’s brand identity had served them well on their journey. Our task was to develop and expand this identity to accommodate BlackBee’s future plans and endeavours. In order to understand the full scope of BlackBee’s development, we undertook a brand strategy workshop with key staff members. Following this, we were able to craft BlackBee’s brand purpose, mission and vision. A set of values, personality, key messages and an in-depth tone of voice document were also created.
After a brand audit we created a suite of new brand assets to reflect the BlackBee of now and of the future. We expanded the colour palette, updated the typefaces, established a style for photography and created a flexible graphic device. For guidance on the new brand we created a brand bible, housing everything from brand strategy to grid layouts.
The new brand assets were then brought to life in the custom-built responsive website we designed for BlackBee. Our considered UX approach leads users to the relevant information whilst also showcasing the myriad of BlackBee’s work. Portfolio pieces were made bespoke and dynamic, as was the blog, which intertwines BlackBee’s podcasts, insight sand articles. Staff headshots for the site were art directed using bespoke props so as to fit seamlessly with the new modern site.
